The University of Salamanca was the first institution of higher learning founded in Spain, and one of the oldest in Europe. This makes Salamanca one of the most attractive cultural places in the country.

The city´s historical center, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, is home to a great architectural and artistic ensemble with renowned monuments like the abovementioned University, the Old and the New Cathedral or the famous Baroque Plaza Mayor, the bustling center of social life in the city.

Beyond culture and history, Salamanca is full to the brim with youth and life in every corner, mostly due to the wonderful student atmosphere, so it´s worth a visit both in daylight hours and in the evening.
