León is home to some of the most spectacular monuments of our country, like the impressive gothic Cathedral, the Real Colegiata de San Isidoro, mausoleum of the kings of the ancient kingdom of León and considered to be the “Sistine Chapel of Romanesque”; or the Hospital of San Marcos, currently a National Parador.

León is full to the brim with friendliness and hospitality because it is one of the key stops on the Camino de Santiago. Visitors will feel at home and will be fascinated by the astonishing architecture and also by the Barrio Húmedo in case they want to taste some tapas. This quarter is located in the historical center of the city and offers a wide range of local specialties from the surrounding regions, like El Bierzo.

Among some of the appealing places to visit near the capital there is the region of Médulas, with mines that were exploited by Romans, as well as the cities of Ponferrada or Astorga.
