Declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1985, Avila is surrounded by the astonishing landscape of Sierra de Gredos and offers not only its history, art and heritage but also gastronomy, festivals and nature.

Avila´s landmark is its medieval wall, almost entirely preserved as it was, but we must not forget its great artistic heritage, a legacy of the city´s historical past, when Hebrew, Muslim and Christian cultures coexisted. Some of the most renowned monuments include the Basílica of San Vicente, the Cathedral, the Convent of Santa Teresa, the Royal Monastery of Saint Thomas or the Convent of Encarnación.

Avila is a mystical, spiritual city, as there are some important names linked to it like Santa Teresa de Jesús or San Juan de la Cruz, but it is also a vibrant, modern and social city.
